But if the great outdoors is your stage, St. Mary’s County offers outdoor recreation for everyone, and the star of the show of course is fishing in Chesapeake Bay. St. Mary’s County has several quaint fishing villages dotting its shoreline, from which fishermen, sailors, or weekend cruisers can start their exciting Chesapeake adventure. For land lovers, St. Mary’s County also has four beautiful state parks—the Greenwell State Park in Hollywood, Point Lookout State Park in Scotland, St. Clement’s Island State Park in Colton’s Point, and St. Mary’s River State Park in Callaway—all of which offer excellent hiking, biking, camping and boating opportunities. St. Mary’s County features two challenging golf courses—the Breton Bay Golf & Country Club and the Wicomico Shores Golf Course—as well as a variety of fast-paced motor sports at the Budds Creek Motocross & Speedway, the Maryland International Raceway, and the Potomac Speedway, all in the town of Mechanicsville.
