Drive around 15 minutes and you will visit or live in the charming prairie town of Verona. Its 12,000 strong population celebrates annual parades, carnivals, car shows, dunk tanks, softball tournaments, and run/walk events that have become quite popular. Reddan Soccer Park, Wisconsin's largest soccer-specific facility and the boasted "premier" soccer park in Dane County is a 40 acre parcel containing 15 fields. The park attracts 20,000 players, twice as many supporters, and hosts a dozen or more tournaments each year. If golf is your thing, the University of Wisconsin has a beautiful course; The University Ridge. It is located on 225 rolling acres surrounded by deep-set woods, hills, meadows and prairie. Golf Digest, Golfweek and Madison Magazine have given rave reviews and high ratings, exclaiming the course as one of America's best public courses. For those outdoor enthusiasts who wish to pursue other interests, hikers and cross-country skiers can hop and skim across the six-and-a-half-mile section of the incredible Ice Age Scenic Trail which winds through some of Verona's farm fields, majestic wooded landscapes, grassy prairies, and past glacial kettle ponds. Educationally, the Verona area school district has a strong tradition of successful growth and is recognized as having one of the best school systems in Wisconsin.
