About Ashippun, WI

According to several sources, the Town of Ashippun is named after the Native American word for raccoon. Historically, the locals referred to the river flowing through the eastern part of this town of 2,489 residents as Ashippun.

While the town is located just over the Dodge County line, it is still part of Oconomowoc School district. Hwy. 67 cuts right through the center of Ashippun. The town itself is a small friendly community that is very rural, with lots of farms and open spaces and is surrounded by farmland and larger farms.

The Town of Ashippun is known for its fish fry’s at the Old Maple Inn and for The Honey Bee, which is famous for raising bees and honey. The local activities include hunting, ball games at Fireman’s Park, and partaking in that famous fish fry.
