Welcome to Bayside, WI

The most northeastern community in Milwaukee County is Bayside. Low property taxes, high-quality living and easy access to Lake Michigan, downtown Milwaukee and Ozaukee County are just some of the perks of being a resident of this North Shore community. With over 4,100 citizens spread out over 2.39 sq. miles, The Village of Bayside is predominately residential and offers spectacular views, accessibility and small town atmosphere that can’t be beat!

The Schlitz Audubon Nature Center is a well-known attraction in Bayside that dates all the way back to the late 1800s. Originally named Nine Mile Farm, the center was approximately nine miles from either Schlitz brewery and/or Wisconsin Avenue. The Uihlein family (who owned Schlitz) began purchasing the farmland in 1885. It became a working farm – producing food for the Uihlein household as well as the hundreds of horses used to deliver Schlitz beer. Eventually, trucks replaced the horses and the land was given to the Schlitz Foundation. In 1971, the Foundation donated the two hundred plus acres to the National Audubon Center for a nature center. Today the center offers many programs for the residents of Bayside and its surrounding neighbors.
