Living in Cambridge, WI

The population in Cambridge is 1,101 and it is located 20 miles east of Madison. The joke in town with the population is that the “01” person is Matt Kenseth, NASCAR driver #17. Born and raised in Cambridge, he still visits as much as his schedule permits. The Matt Kenseth Museum is located on Hwy. 12/18 on the outskirts of the town.

Cambridge is a quaint community that lives through yesteryear on its Main Street where you can find that special gift in one of the many unique shops. The world-famous Rowe Pottery has it’s home in Cambridge. Besides Rowe Pottery, Cambridge is home to other potters as well. Cambridge is the host of the World Pottery Festival, which highlights the best throwers in the world.

Cambridge has a wide variety of festivals throughout the year. The Fall Fest has the scarecrow competition, Art Fair on the Square brings artist throughout the Midwest to this small community to display and sell their arts and crafts. During the holiday’s you cannot miss the “magic” that Main Street casts upon you. With the lamp posts’ decked out in greens and wreaths and store fronts dressed for the season, you cannot help but feel the spirit of the season as you drive through on a winter night. Do not miss the singing Christmas Tree to get you in the holiday mood.

The best-kept secret of Cambridge is Lake Ripley. This lake is a boaters’ paradise. From skiing to fishing to sailing, you can do it all on Lake Ripley. If fishing is your desire, you will love the fishing tournaments held throughout the year. Most of these tournaments assist local Charities.

The schools in Cambridge are supported greatly by the community. From the Friday night football games to the summer baseball games, the community is there. If football or baseball is not your game, maybe an art or dance class is your calling. With the CAP program, they offer activities for infants to 101 year olds. These activities are usually held at one of the three school buildings or on school grounds. There is something for everyone!
