Voted "Best Place to Live, 2009", Middleton is but 10 minutes west of downtown Madison. Enjoy being conveniently located near some of your favorite Wisconsin attractions, including UW's Camp Randall Stadium, Wisconsin’s State Capitol, the House on the Rock, and Circus World Museum, and so much more. Middleton hosts a rich history and a plethora of historical sites for area citizens and out-of-area visitors. Many may wish to stop in at the Stamm House. Built in 1847, the Stamm House was Middleton's first official inn. For a time, it even housed the Post Office for Pheasant Branch and also had its own wine cellar. Some of its rich history includes the belief that it was a stop of the Underground Railroad, aiding escaping slaves. Today, it is a very popular restaurant.
In the months of May through October, come and enjoy the Middleton Farmers Market. Sample the delectable freshly and locally grown vegetables. Enjoy the oak savannas, prairies, and wetlands that are home to an abundance of native vegetation and wildlife species, including the endangered Blandings turtle. The southern portion of Pheasant Branch Conservancy offers a quiet refuge for wildlife viewers, hikers, and bird watchers.
Boasting a population of around 17,000 residents, Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District takes a leadership role in providing quality education. Programs are provided for students with special needs. In addition, students perform in the top 1 percent of the state in proficiency tests. Middleton's reputation as a Good neighbor City offers up a breathtaking array of retail choices from specialty shops to over 70 restaurants. Cozy up in spots like Hubbard Avenue Diner, or the Three Sister's Old Town Inn, laugh and relax with good company at Ruth's Chris Steak House or Cheeseburger In Paradise. Afterwards, stop in at the Middleton icon, The Capital Brewery, a micro- brewery specializing in German lagers.
