Voted "Best Place to Live, 2009", Middleton is but 10 minutes west of downtown Madison. Enjoy the oak savannas, prairies, and wetlands that are home to an abundance of native vegetation and wildlife species, including the endangered Blandings turtle. The southern portion of Pheasant Branch Conservancy offers a quiet refuge for wildlife viewers, hikers, and bird watchers.

Boasting a population of around 17,000 residents, Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District takes a leadership role in providing quality education. Students nearing 6,000 attend one of six elementary schools (K-5), two middle schools (6-8), and one high school (9-12), and an alternative high school. Programs are provided for students with special needs. In addition, students perform in the top 1 percent of the state in proficiency tests. Middleton's reputation as a Good neighbor City offers up a breathtaking array of retail choices from specialty shops to over 70 restaurants.
