Palmyra, WI: The Heartbeat of the Kettle Moraine

Known as “The Heartbeat of the Kettle Moraine,” Palmyra, WI is located in the center of the beautiful Kettle Moraine Forest. From fishing and hunting, to horseback riding and cross country skiing, to bird watching and hiking, Palmyra has much to offer any lover of the natural world. Lakes, streams, wetlands, woodlands and marshes can all be found surrounding this historic village as well as scenic trails like The John Muir and Emma Carlin Trails and the Ice Age National Scenic Trail. For equestrians, Horseman’s Park has 56 campsites available only to campers with horses. The Palmyra Village Park holds baseball and softball fields, horseshoe pits, basketball, tennis, and volleyball courts, a playground and a rentable pavilion on twelve public acres.

Palmyra has a population of around 1,800 in the village and around 1,200 in the township. The village’s businesses include retail shops, sporting stores, bar and grills, restaurants, gas stations, a bank, grocery store and hardware store as well as churches, historic sites, parks, a library and a municipal airport.
