Brownsville is small village of approximately 600 residents located in northeastern Dodge County near Highway 41 and 175 between Waupun and Campbellsport. Founded around 1878, the village originally had a railroad running through the center of town and a factory on the corner of West Avenue and Main Street where the Michels Corporation exists today. With a growing focus on finding alternative energy sources, Brownsville is marching forward with the arrival of Wind Turbines at the Forward Wind Energy Center, which is located in the village. In 2007, the estimated median home value was $183,400 and the median household income was $71,100.
