About Strasburg, VA

Living in Strasburg, one of the best small towns, certainly has its advantages. Many people yearn for a close knit community where you know your neighbors and have a sense of well being. Strasburg has always been that kind of town.

A Main Street program has been implemented and the fruits of our labor are starting to show with brick cross walks and charming pocket parks. More to come are old fashioned streetlights and brick sidewalks.

At the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountain lays many bends of the Shenandoah River that meanders through meadows and farmland on the outskirts of Strasburg. Kayaking and canoeing on the Shenandoah has become very popular amongst the community and tourists. Fishing for large and small mouth bass and sun perch is popular as well. Our public boat landing located within the town limits allows for easy access to the Shenandoah River.

The newly constructed “river walk” is a busy trail about a mile long for those who want to exercise or just enjoy the many meadows and wildlife habitat. The start of the River Walk is the Strasburg High School to the Town Park. The many “river walk” signs in Strasburg will lead you to the starting point.

Strasburg is one of several small Historic towns in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley and is located just 70 miles west of the Washington DC/Metro area. This quiet town offers many qualities that the whole family can enjoy such as; several events throughout the year, museums, underground caverns, community pool and park, wonderful restaurants, numerous antique shops to browse and much more. Not only is the town rich in Civil War history but the community is very active and supportive of the Schools. All of these qualities make our town a great place in which to live and thrive.
