Martinsburg is the seat of Berkeley County, the “Northernmost Gateway to the Shenandoah Valley.” Its population of over 17,000 enjoys ample amenities, from shopping and dining to hiking the Blue Ridge Mountains and Appalachians and exploring the Valley’s nine notable limestone caverns. Many families choose to relocate here to avoid the traffic and hassle of much bigger cities. Martinsburg’s youths attend the Martinsburg High School, and the city is home to four colleges and universities.

A large portion of Martinsburg’s population is made up of commuters to Baltimore and Washington, D.C. In addition, the Maryland Area Rail Commuter train and Amtrak both provide service to Martinsburg, while two nearby regional airports accommodate business travelers to and from the area. As a result of so many job seekers relocating here, Martinsburg has become the Eastern Panhandle’s largest city and the state’s eighth largest municipality. And with all that it has to offer, future growth is all but guaranteed.
