Welcome to Waldorf, MDWaldorf is located in Charles County. It is widely recognized as a retail center, thanks to the St. Charles Towne Center. Opened in 1988 and since remodeled, this mixed-use development is promoted as the “shopping capital of Southern Maryland” for its ability to attract visitors from the Baltimore-Washington metro area. But Waldorf is also home to a number of residential developments, in particular, the planned community of St. Charles. Made up of a number of villages that are further subdivided into distinct neighborhoods, this popular town is characterized by pedestrian-friendly walking paths, manmade lakes, play areas, and scenic green spaces.
A significant portion of Waldorf’s residents commute to Washington, D.C. for work. Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Andrews Air Force Base, and the Pentagon are also major employers, though Waldorf itself is home to a number of sales and service jobs. As a result, many job seekers and business professionals choose to relocate to Waldorf, in addition to the families with school-age children who are attracted by Waldorf’s selection of three public high schools. | More Local Area InformationFort Washington is a quiet community located along the Potomac River in Prince George’s County.
