Welcome to Waymart, PA

The borough of Waymart is located in Wayne County, Pennsylvania, just 24 miles northeast of Scranton. Situated in the foothills of the beautiful Pocono Mountains, the Waymart area boasts an abundance of pristine lakes, streams, and serene countryside with rolling hills and acres of lush forests. Attracting residents and visitors who love the great outdoors, Waymart offers exceptional boating and fishing opportunities, kayaking and canoeing, scenic hiking and bicycling among its three lakes—Elk Lake, Keen Lake, and Lake Lodore—as well as the Prompton Lake and State Park that is located approximately five miles northeast of town. Wintertime brings even more outdoor thrills, such as ice skating, snowmobiling, and skiing in the Poconos.

In addition to the inspiring scenery and recreation found in the region, Waymart residents also have convenient access to City of Scranton attractions, shopping, dining, and sports. Scranton has an active arts community that supports many music and theatre venues, such as Tink’s Entertainment Complex, the Ritz Theatre, and Moonshine Theatre, as well as several art galleries and annual festivals. The Artists for Art Gallery and the Soho Gallery of Scranton are both community-based galleries that are heavily involved in the local art scene. History buffs can find many intriguing museums and historical sites in Scranton, including the Steamtown National Historic Site, the Catlin House Museum, and the Electric Trolley Station and Museum. Also, the Architectural Heritage Association of Scranton offers walking tours of the city’s treasured landmarks. Kids and adults alike will love one of Scranton’s most unique attractions—the Houdini Museum Tour and Magic Show—the only museum dedicated to the world’s greatest magician. And for sports fans, Scranton is home to Empire League Football’s the Scranton Eagles, the most successful team in the league.
