Whittier, California

Whittier, California was founded by the Quakers in the late 1800s. In fact, the city takes its name from a quaker poet, John Greenleaf Quaker. Built mostly for the middle-class, Whittier offers more than 25,000 housing units. Residents are served by the Whittier and East Whittier School Districts and the Whittier High District. In recent years all three school districts have passed renovation bonds. Whittier also features about 15 parks, two libraries, an art association, a senior's center, and many community activities and classes provided by Whittier College.
