Welcome to Ypsilanti, Michigan

Located between Detroit and Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti is perfectly sited to take advantage of the best of what southeast Michigan has to offer. The home of Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti has a 157-year commitment to higher education. In addition, Ypsilanti has been integral to the development of the automobile, with a number of different makes produced here over the years, dating back to the 1920s. Ypsilanti also played a very prominent role during World War II, when Henry Ford built the huge production facility for B24 bombers in neighboring Willow Run. The Yankee Air Museum at Willow Run Airport chronicles the area’s aviation history, and is the annual site of the “Thunder Over Michigan” air show, attracting thousands each year.

The Huron River winds through the heart of Ypsilanti and a number of parks have been developed along its banks. Motor boaters and sailors enjoy Ford Lake, created when Henry Ford dammed the Huron in the 1930s to create hydroelectric power for his automotive plant. Festivals, parades, and cruise nights celebrating Ypsilanti’s rich heritage dot the calendar. Ypsilanti residents routinely travel to adjacent Ann Arbor, or east to Detroit, to participate in the many cultural and recreational offerings in those two cities.

The Ypsilanti housing market offers a variety of all homes including remarkable Victorians, new construction, condominiums, lots and land, as well as single family and investment properties. The beautiful and historic homes of this gracious community are still affordable, averaging a price of $81,313.
